UK privacy information – how Dancashe Decorative uses your data

This page adds the UK-specific details to our main Privacy policy. Last updated: 19 October 2026.

We're a small, independent business, and we only use your information to sell you beautiful things, deliver them safely and keep in touch if you'd like us to. The data controller is Chris Kamutenga, trading as Dancashe Decorative, The Hop Farm, Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, Kent TN12 6PY. Email info@dancashe.co.uk, phone +44 (0)7950 867676.

Why we use your information, and our lawful basis (UK GDPR)

  • Orders, delivery quotes, payment, delivery and after-sales care: to perform our contract with you, or to take the steps you've asked for before buying, such as a delivery quote (Article 6(1)(b)).
  • Keeping tax and accounting records: to meet our legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)).
  • Keeping our website and payments secure and preventing fraud: our legitimate interests in running a safe shop (Article 6(1)(f)).
  • Marketing emails and texts (sent through Shopify and Klaviyo): your consent or, if you've bought from us before, our legitimate interest in telling you about similar pieces. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, or by telling us.
  • Non-essential cookies, analytics and personalised advertising: your consent, which you can change at any time using "Your Privacy Choices".

Your right to object

You can object at any time to us using your information for direct marketing, and we'll stop. You can also object where we rely on legitimate interests.

How long we keep your information

  • Order, invoice and payment records: 6 years after the end of the tax year of the sale, as HMRC requires.
  • Delivery enquiries and messages that don't lead to a sale: 2 years, then deleted.
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep just your email address on a "do not contact" list so we respect your choice.
  • Customer accounts: until you ask us to close them.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first at info@dancashe.co.uk and we'll put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, tel. 0303 123 1113.
