This French Empire style double sconce, standing at an impressive height of 65cm, is a masterpiece of gilded bronze, radiating the opulence and grandeur characteristic of the Napoleonic era. The sconce features two candle-like light fixtures, each emerging from elegantly scrolled arms that are intricately decorated with floral motifs and possibly dolphin or swan heads at their ends, a hallmark of Empire design.

The central column of the sconce is fluted, reminiscent of classical architecture, and is topped with an ornate finial that might symbolize a palm leaf or a flame, indicative of victory and enlightenment. The body of the sconce is adorned with detailed carvings, showcasing motifs like laurel leaves or acanthus, which were popular during the Empire period for their associations with triumph and nature.

Despite its age, the sconce has been preserved in a condition that highlights its antique charm, including a rich patina that speaks to its history. It has been modernized for electric use, allowing it to function as both a decorative piece and a practical light source, blending historical authenticity with contemporary convenience.

This sconce, with its detailed craftsmanship and majestic design, is perfect for adding a touch of historical elegance to grand dining rooms, luxurious hallways, or as a focal point in a study or library.
