This antique double sconce, embodying the majestic French Empire style, stands at 42cm high, with a width of 30.5cm and a depth of 14cm. Crafted from brass, the piece is adorned with intricate detailing that speaks to the opulence of the early 19th century. The sconce features two candle-like light fixtures, each supported by an arm decorated with floral motifs and stylised eagle heads, a nod to the classical influences prevalent in Empire design.

The central column is fluted, reminiscent of Greco-Roman architecture, and crowned with a decorative finial that might represent fasces or palm leaves, symbols of victory and strength from ancient times, which were favoured during the Napoleonic era. The top of the sconce is embellished with carvings, possibly depicting laurel leaves or other motifs associated with classical antiquity, enhancing its regal aesthetic.

Originally designed for candles, this sconce has been thoughtfully electrified, allowing for modern functionality while preserving its historical charm. The electrification maintains the original candle-like appearance, providing both practicality and an authentic look suitable for a variety of settings, from grand dining rooms to sophisticated hallways or as a centerpiece in a study or library.

The piece shows signs of age that contribute to its antique allure, including minor wear and patina on the brass, which only adds to its historical character.
