MID-CENTURY SOLID TEAK THREE-PANEL PIERCED SCREEN - c.1960s/70s
Less a decorative folding screen than a piece of portable architecture.
Three tall solid-teak panels are worked throughout with repeating pierced geometric motifs, creating an extraordinary rhythm of timber, light and shadow.
The pattern is dense enough to give the screen real visual weight while remaining completely open - changing constantly depending on what sits behind it and how the three panels are articulated.
Substantially constructed in solid teak, with brass hinges allowing the panels to fold and angle freely. It is unusually heavy for a screen of this type and feels much closer to furniture than an accessory.
Solid teak.
Circa 1960s/70s.
H 190 cm
W 180 cm fully opened
D 2.5 cm
Each panel approximately 60 cm wide
A screen that doesn’t simply divide a room.
It becomes part of the architecture.
Here it is. You are welcome.
