This pair of carved pine architectural panels comprises rectilinear frames filled with eight pierced quatrefoil and circular motifs arranged in a balanced grid. Some of the original wire mesh remains affixed to the reverse of each panel, its darkened surface reflecting extended utilitarian use—likely within a domestic or service-area ventilation system.
The use of pine allows for crisp yet approachable carving. Bearing the gentle scuffs, historic splits, wear and surface variation associated with age, the panels illustrate the intersection of functional design and vernacular craftsmanship, offering both historical interest and continued decorative value.
Condition: Good, with some signs of use consistent with age.
